PROMPERÚ has expressed its solidarity with all those affected by the recent railway incident on the route to Machupicchu, including the family of the victim. The organisation stated that it stands with those impacted and regrets the incident deeply.

Following the event, the Peruvian State activated its tourist assistance and protection procedures. These actions were led by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism through the Tourist Protection Network, with coordination across public agencies.

Authorities focused on supporting affected passengers and local residents. Emergency teams carried out evacuations, provided medical treatment, and offered ongoing assistance. Medical staff, ambulances, and specialist responders were deployed from the early stages of the response.

Passenger evacuation took place in stages during the early hours. Rail services resumed only after safety inspections and authorisation by the relevant authorities.

Officials continue to investigate the cause of the incident. PROMPERÚ stated that it respects the investigation process and will await formal findings in line with legal procedures.

Visitors affected by the disruption have access to ticket rescheduling and refund options for Machupicchu entry. Tourism operators and associations continue to work with authorities to provide information, guidance, and logistical support.

PROMPERÚ confirmed that Machupicchu remains open and that tourism operations are restarting under agreed safety and operational measures.

The organisation noted that incidents can occur in any destination. It stated that Peru has activated established systems to manage the situation and protect visitors, and that these systems remain active.

PROMPERÚ reaffirmed its commitment to responsible tourism promotion, visitor safety, and clear communication, working in coordination with public and private sector partners.
