Investing.com – U.S. equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher. On the other hand, losses were recorded in the and segments, which took the indexes down.

Today’s leading stock is Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: NYSE ), which was up 1.43% or 3.16 points to end at 223.43. Rather, stocks Chevron Corp (NYSE: ) added 1.41% or 2.39 points to end at 171.51 while Nike Inc (NYSE: ) was up 1.24% or 1.56 points to 127.09.
In regards to the worst performance of the day, Intel Group (NASDAQ: ) lost 2.11% or 0.64 points to trade at 29.66 at the close. Salesforce Inc (NYSE: ) declined 2.07% or 4.11 points to 194.92 and American Express Company (NYSE: ) declined 1.95% or 3.19 points to 160.59.
On the other hand, the best performance in the S&P 500 index was recorded by a single stock. First Republic Bank (NYSE: ), which rose 12.20% to trade at 16.00, Lumen Technologies Inc (NYSE: ) continued its gains at 8.30% and closed at 2.42 levels. Albemarle Corp (NYSE: ) rose 5.86% to close at 183.94.
Among the best performers today were Carrier Global Corp (NYSE: ), which fell 7.25% to close at 41.94, K Corp (NYSE: ), which lost 3.88% to 11.14, and AT&T T (NYSE: ), which lost 3.73% to 17.54 in the session. Completed.
On the other hand, the top performer on the Nasdaq index was recorded by N8 Bio Shares (NASDAQ: ), which rose 183.02% to trade at 3.00, Aclarion Inc (NASDAQ: ) continued its rise of 74.62% and closed at 1.28 levels, while Netcapital Inc (NASDAQ: ) surged 67.03% to close at 1.52.
Among the weak performers today are Bed Path and Beyond Company (NASDAQ:), which plunged 35.67% to close the session at 0.19 and Scilex Holding Co (NASDAQ:), which lost 29.31% and one share to trade at 7.26. Petros Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ: ), which lost 27.68% to end at 3.84.
The number of gainers outnumbered the number of stocks that closed lower in trading on the New York Stock Exchange with 1595 compared to 1360, while 92 were unchanged. In terms of NASDAQ stock market, 2246 stocks declined, 1373 stocks strengthened their position, while 138 stocks maintained their value.
Shares of KCorp (NYSE: ) fell to a 52-week low, declining 3.88% or 0.45 points to trade at 11.14. Bed Path & Beyond (NASDAQ: ) traded down 35.67% or 0.10 points to 0.19, hitting an all-time low.

Gold futures for June delivery were up 0.44%, or 8.85%, at $1,999.35 an ounce. In other commodities trading, WTI crude oil futures for June delivery rose 1.12%, or 0.87%, to settle at $78.74 a barrel, while Brent oil futures for July were up 1.26%, or 1.03 points. and ended at $82.49 per barrel.
EUR/USD added 0.53% to trade at 1.10 levels, while USD/JPY gained 0.09% to reach 134.27 levels.
Dollar index futures were down 0.46% at 101.08.
