From early summer to early autumn – from early June to early September – this time of year is considered the best time of year to view the Milky Way, according to the Emirates Astronomical Society. It is midnight in the middle of the sky in mid-July, and in the last few days a picture of the Galaxy River was taken from the sky of the UAE, by astrophotographer Tamim Al-Tamimi, in the far southern regions of the country.

Ibrahim Al-Zarwan, chairman of the board of directors of the Emirates Astronomical Society and a member of the Arab Union for Astronomy and Space Sciences, said the Milky Way is known as a cosmic system that contains numerous stars and nebulae. Gases and dust

And he continued, when it rises in the sky, its bright parts extend from the south-west to the north-east part of the sky, almost appearing in the form of an arch in the sky, as the Arabs saw in the past, it takes. Bright and rich range in midsummer when the Milky Way, one of the five main arms in our galaxy, and the archer’s arm (the bow) rises, considered one of the longest weapons in the galaxy.

Al-Jarwan said, “At this time of the year, in the middle of summer, on dark nights, you see it in a clear place, away from artificial lights like cities or roads, or natural lights like moonlight. A cleaner atmosphere, away from air pollution, and its light is brighter than the Earth’s sky at night.” If it’s low, it’s hard to distinguish, especially where there’s light pollution or moonlight, and you see a density of stars spread across the width of the sky, stretching from the northeast of the sky, across the mid-sky, and then toward the extreme southwest.

And he added that the development of observatories made it possible to see the stars clearly while taking photographs. In photography, exposure refers to the amount of light allowed to fall on a light-sensitive photographic slide during a photograph. By adjusting the aperture width of the lens, the shutter speed and the sensitivity of the optical sensor, the value is greater. The ability to capture more light in low light environments increases.
