The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed yesterday in Dubai between the Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates, Suhail Al Masroui, and the Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Netherlands, Lizzie Schrinimaker, aims to strengthen bilateral relations. The commitment of both parties, as amended, to sustainable development in the implementation of energy, scientific and technological policies, changing economic, social and environmental considerations such as climate change and the formation of national regulatory frameworks and policies on the management and development of energy resources, particularly hydrogen-related areas.
Suhail al-Masroui said the expansion of the historic partnership between the United Arab Emirates and the Netherlands in various fields was a close partnership in the energy sector and particularly energy transfer, which is a key supporter of national economies. Hydrogen has now become an essential requirement, and hydrogen energy is the key engine and element that is critical to sustainable development, the prosperity of nations and communities, the protection of the environment and the optimal use of natural resources, as well as its role. Protecting supply chains and addressing climate change.
He added, “The United Arab Emirates is moving towards achieving its ambition to be a global leader in the low-carbon hydrogen sector, and the UAE unveiled the roadmap for leadership in the hydrogen sector during COP26 in Glasgow. Will set a clear national goal for hydrogen market and environmental development in the state.”
“Such partnerships contribute to the crystallization of transformation into hydrogen energy and support the two countries’ orientation in developing plans and initiatives to reach the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. Enhancing inter-country cooperation contributes to opening up wider opportunities for growth and development within the efforts of both countries.
Lizzie Schreinmecher said for her part: “The world’s population of close to 10 billion people will increase demand for energy resources by 2050, thus increasing the pressure on existing ecosystems to produce and use green hydrogen energy as an alternative. Emphasizes the role of the Memorandum of Understanding in achieving the goals of the two countries in line with the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. “
