Sheikh Mohammed bin Saeed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces, confirmed this in an interview with Dr. Robert Satloff, Managing Director of the Washington Institute. Statesman-Researcher Award presented by the Institute that there are many reasons for the United Arab Emirates to bring about complete peace with Israel.

Here are the highlights of the conversation:

Dr. Satloff: Why peace with Israel now?

Sheikh Mohammed bin Saeed replied: Your question is very important: Why did we make this big decision? In fact, we saw the opportunity to have a diplomatic relationship. This was an important decision for us for a number of reasons, including:

The first is for the Palestinians.

Second – to send a clear message to the world and the region that we seek this peace.

Third – a message we received from the founder Sheikh Saeed, may God have mercy on him because he owns the message of peace, and in establishing this he owns the message of love from the very beginning of his life. This is his vision and we are on this path.

Dr. Satloff: All right. It is said that when leaders make decisions for peace it is a bold decision. When you make that decision for peace, how did you assess the risks?

His superior replied: Every end has risks, no doubt, the Middle East is hard, but the encouragement and results we receive are far greater than the losses.
