During a friendly meeting, Ronaldo gets into trouble for threatening a billion-dollar contract

Date:

Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of the Saudi Al-Nasr club, got into legal trouble after wearing a leg protector (shinguard) bearing the “Adidas” brand, which competes with “Nike” (Ronaldo’s official sponsor).

In a friendly match against the Spanish club “Zelda Vigo”, Ronaldo wore a shin guard of the German “Adidas” brand, and it was visible through his long socks, and with a closer look, the mark was clearly visible, according to information published by “Sky News Arabia”.

Although Al-Nasr lost by five clean goals, the “Zengard” crisis was the most important event in the tournament, as the Portuguese star would suffer significant material losses due to the “legal violation” of the sponsorship agreement with the American “Nike”.

Since 2003, Ronaldo has been associated with a sponsorship deal with Nike.

Over the past two decades, Ronaldo has competed in more than 70 pairs of boots from the company, which has relied on him to promote its latest products.

In 2016, Ronaldo became the third athlete (in the company’s history) to sign a $1 billion lifetime sponsorship deal, according to press reports.

Ronaldo became synonymous with Nike, appearing in most of the company’s commercials throughout his career.

According to the sponsorship agreement, the Portuguese star must wear exclusively “Nike” clothing and sports equipment, including soccer shoes and shirts, unless his club is sponsored by another company, as he was with Spanish Real Madrid and Italian Juventus.

Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al-Nasr during last winter’s transfers on a free transfer after terminating his contract with Manchester United ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Al-Dan made 17 appearances with Al-Nasser in 5 months, where he played 14 matches in the Saudi League, two matches in the King’s Cup and another in the Super Cup, where he scored 13 goals.
