Her Excellency Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, emphasised that the UAE, guided by its visionary leadership, places air quality at the heart of its strategic priorities. This focus, she explained, is fundamental to achieving environmental, climate, and developmental objectives while paving the way for a sustainable future for generations ahead.

Marking the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies, Her Excellency stated: “This day provides a crucial opportunity to underscore the UAE’s proactive vision for pristine air quality, highlighting a development model that propels us towards a more sustainable future. Clean air is an environmental right, and it also forms a cornerstone of quality of life for all residents. Our concerted efforts to enhance air quality are therefore integral to a comprehensive national strategy, intrinsically centred on our people and their well-being.”

She added: “Our dedication to maintaining the UAE’s air quality is firmly rooted in the National Air Quality Agenda 2031. This transformative framework extends beyond mere regulatory mechanisms, actively driving innovation and opening up new economic horizons. We firmly believe that advanced environmental policies are a powerful catalyst for green growth. They foster investment in clean technologies, attract global talent, and significantly enhance the global competitiveness of our companies across all sectors, particularly within the sustainable industries of the future.”

Her Excellency further noted that the nation’s pursuit of clean air is closely tied to its ambition of achieving Net Zero by 2050. She explained: “Every policy we implement to reduce air pollutants represents a direct and measurable step towards reducing carbon emissions. This seamless integration of environmental protection and climate action forms the very essence of our approach, ensuring that every dirham invested in air quality is a direct investment in our nation’s future and its invaluable natural environment.”

Concluding her remarks, Her Excellency stated: “On this significant day, we reaffirm our unwavering commitment to collaborate closely with all government entities, the private sector, and the wider community. Our collective aim is to ensure that the UAE’s skies remain perpetually blue and clear. This is a shared responsibility, and it serves as a powerful testament to the world that true development inextricably links the prosperity of humanity with the flourishing of nature.”
