Urban Ledger Strengthens UAE Leadership in UPI-Style QR Code Payments

Urban Ledger has unveiled a new suite of digital payment technologies following a strong year of growth, consolidating its leadership in QR code innovation across the UAE. The launch represents a major advance in digital collections, bringing speed, security, and simplicity to small and medium-sized businesses through a first-of-its-kind regional solution.

At the heart of the new system is the drive to make collections simpler for business owners while equipping staff with the ability to collect payments directly. This dual benefit not only boosts efficiency but also enhances revenue generation. Businesses will now be able to track sales and payment collections by individuals in real time. Every transaction flows directly to the owner’s account, while staff can collect on their behalf. Instant notifications alert both owner and staff when money has been received, eliminating the need for repeated follow-ups. Each transaction is automatically assigned to the staff member involved, making it easier to monitor performance and manage incentives.

A regional first, the launch also introduces NFC-enabled QR technology integrated with Apple Pay and Google Pay. Customers can now complete transactions by simply tapping, without the need to scan or input card details, with payments processed in under five seconds. The approach mirrors UPI-style convenience while allowing customers to pay directly through their browser—reducing friction and setting a new standard for customer experience.

Speaking about the launch, Girish Advani, Co-Founder and CEO of Urban Ledger, said: “From the start, our focus has been to create digital payment solutions that empower small businesses to grow business and profitability without adding complexity. With this launch, we’re enabling merchants and their front-end staff speed, control, and visibility, while introducing technologies that are truly first-of-their-kind in the region. It’s a milestone not just for us, but for the UAE’s digital payments ecosystem as a whole.”

Devanshu Verma, Co-Founder and COO of Urban Ledger, added: “UPI-style QR codes are transforming how the world pays, and Urban Ledger is bringing that evolution to the UAE. Every feature we launch is shaped by real merchant feedback, not trends. Our Enhanced QR innovation empowers every sale or delivery staff member to collect and track payments instantly: no friction, no guesswork. We’re building a payment experience that matches the speed and transparency of India’s UPI, but tuned for UAE’s dynamic SME ecosystem.”

The new technology is already being adopted by businesses across industries such as travel, maintenance, and delivery services. These companies are using the solution to empower their teams, simplify collections worth millions, and improve customer interactions. Settlements are faster, reporting is clearer, and every transaction is safeguarded with OTP authentication and PCI DSS Level 1 compliance.

Looking ahead, Urban Ledger is preparing to launch its “Buy Now, Pay Longer” product in Q4 2025. This offering is designed to help merchants increase average transaction values while providing customers with greater payment flexibility.
