Dubai Police Alert Families to Risky Social Media Trends

Dubai Police have warned parents, teenagers, and young people about the rise of dangerous social media challenges that put lives at risk.

These online trends encourage unsafe behaviour among children and teens. Dubai Police said some challenges involve actions that can cause serious harm or even death.

The force explained that many young people take part to seek attention or excitement online. Often, they do not understand the real risks. Similar trends in other countries have already led to severe injuries and loss of life.

Dubai Police stressed that parents and carers play a key role in keeping children safe. They should talk to their children about online content and keep track of what they watch and share.

Families are encouraged to have open conversations about the dangers of copying harmful behaviour seen on social media. Parents should also help children resist peer pressure and the need for online approval.

Dubai Police asked the public to report any unsafe or inappropriate activity. People can contact the Dubai Police Contact Centre on 901 or use the Police Eye service on the Dubai Police smart app.
