Dubai Police find missing six-year-old in Frij Al Murar in 30 minutes

Dubai Police located a missing six-year-old girl in the Frij Al Murar area and returned her to her family within 30 minutes, after she became separated from her father during a routine trip to a nearby grocery shop.

The girl’s father had taken her with him while he shopped. When he finished and turned to leave, she was gone. He initially assumed she had made her way back to their residential building, but her mother confirmed she had not arrived home.

After searching the surrounding streets without success, the father called Dubai Police. Naif Police Station activated a search team once the report came through the Command and Control Centre at the General Department of Operations.

Search completed in under half an hour

Officers circulated the girl’s photograph to police patrols and investigation teams across the area. A Naif Police Station patrol found her on a nearby street within 30 minutes of the initial report.

She was frightened and crying when officers reached her. She was taken to the station, where the Victim Communication Section provided care and reassurance while staff waited for her father to collect her.

Dubai Police urged parents and guardians to keep young children under close supervision, particularly in crowded public places. The force also encouraged parents to prepare children for the possibility of separation, including teaching them to approach a police officer or security personnel and ask for help.

A second incident involving missing children earlier this year

The Frij Al Murar case follows a separate incident in February, when two six-year-old girls went missing after walking outside their community in Dubai Hills, Maple 2. Dubai Police confirmed both were found safe.

Reporting at the time from The National and Gulf News confirmed the girls were recovered safely, though the two outlets gave conflicting accounts of where they were found: The National reported Dubai Hills Mall, while Gulf News cited a separate location. Dubai Police did not specify the exact recovery point in its official statement.

Missing posters had circulated on social media during that search, with parents appealing for information. Dubai Police responded by urging the public to rely only on official sources for updates.

The force said close supervision and preparing children for such situations can help prevent a brief separation from becoming a more serious risk.

The National and Gulf News both cover Dubai Police operations as part of their UAE news desks. Neither the Frij Al Murar girl’s name nor the names of the Dubai Hills children were released by the authorities.
