Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid launches The Letters, a book of 26 personal letters

By GST 2 min read

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, launched The Letters on 6 September 2026, the second part of his Lessons from Life series, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM). The collection comprises 26 personal letters addressed to his family, team, the citizens of the UAE, and readers worldwide.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid opens The Letters with a message to the UAE President

The book opens with a letter to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, whom Sheikh Mohammed describes as a brother, friend and companion on the journey. In it, he reflects on milestones from the President’s life and on qualities he has come to know over decades of shared work.

The letter addresses Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed directly: ‘Today, You are that spirit,’ Sheikh Mohammed wrote, having framed his argument that cities are built and structures rise, but what endures is the spirit that unites a nation’s people, preserves stability and inspires its youth.

In the book, Sheikh Mohammed explains the purpose of the collection in his own words: ‘Life has taught me that our years are part of the story of our nations… Wisdom lies in adding a chapter worthy of being read by the generations to come… Today, as I near sixty years of public service in the nation’s cause… I have written letters to my brothers, my children, my grandchildren, my team and my people… And to everyone who sees in our journey something worth reflecting upon.’

Drawing on nearly six decades of public service

The 26 letters cover a range of subjects in a personal and reflective form, drawing on lessons learned, decisions taken and projects completed across almost 60 years of public life, Arabian Business reported. The recipients span his children and family, his team, UAE citizens and a broader international readership.

Sheikh Mohammed described the act of writing as an obligation to those who follow: ‘I wrote these letters because our years pass… But ideas grow and endure… I wrote them because it is a trust to leave behind something that shortens the road for those who carry this duty after us… I have gathered them in a book titled “The Letters”, the second part of “Lessons from Life”.’

The Letters is the second volume in the series. The first part, Lessons from Life, was listed on Amazon.ae with a publication date of 10 October 2025, though no official source confirmed that date at the time of publication. Together, the two volumes are framed as a comprehensive record of Sheikh Mohammed’s leadership philosophy, intended as a direct reference for future generations.

The book continues Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid’s practice of contributing to Arabic literature. His earlier works include My Vision: Challenges in the Race for Excellence, Flashes of Thought, and Reflections on Happiness and Positivity, all cited as part of the same literary legacy.

No date has been announced for a public sale or wider distribution of The Letters beyond the launch event confirmed by WAM on 6 September 2026.
