Dubai petrol stations now handle lost item reports and vehicle colour change permits

By GST 2 min read

Residents in Dubai can now report lost belongings and get a permit to change their vehicle’s colour at a petrol station, after Dubai Police added two services to their ‘On the Go’ initiative. The force announced the expansion on 20 October 2026.

The addition brings the initiative to 10 services across 167 petrol stations in the emirate. The fuel retailers taking part are Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC), Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat), and the aim is to cut the number of trips residents make to police stations for routine paperwork.

The two new services

  • Lost Item Report: customers can report missing belongings and request an official certificate to submit to the relevant authorities when required.
  • Vehicle Colour Change Permit: owners of vehicles registered in Dubai can obtain official approval before changing their vehicle’s colour.

Captain Majid bin Saed Al Kaabi, Head of the ‘On the Go’ Initiative Team, said the new services are a further step towards quicker, more efficient transactions. Dubai Police describe ‘On the Go’ as an officially approved Dubai Police service channel aligned with the Services 360 policy.

What is already available at the pump

The initiative has grown through six phases. It began with police services at five petrol stations, then expanded to 10. The third phase added the Lost and Found service, the fourth added eCrime and Police Eye for reporting cybercrime and suspicious activities, and the fifth added People of Determination Services and Labour Complaints. The sixth phase, announced on 20 October 2026, added the two new services.

In a release on the initiative’s inaugural forum, published on 13 May 2026, Dubai Police listed eight services offered at the time: minor traffic accident reports, reports against unknown party, lost and found, services for people of determination, labour complaints, vehicle repair, the Police Eye service and the E-Crime service.

How it has been used

Figures given at the forum show how the petrol station channel has been used. At that point the initiative had benefited 7,762 beneficiaries, and minor traffic accident reports had been filed across 158 petrol stations.

Report type (as of May 2026) Number
Minor traffic accident reports 3,981
Lost-and-found reports 2,013
Reports against unknown party 1,375
Police Eye reports 296
Cybercrime reports through E-Crime 97

What changes for residents

Anyone who has lost an item, or who plans to change the colour of a Dubai-registered vehicle, can now use a participating ENOC, ADNOC or Emarat petrol station for the report or permit instead of a police station. Dubai Police said working with fuel retailers is meant to make essential services easier to reach and government transactions more convenient, with fewer unnecessary police station visits.
