Expressing his delight at winning the title, Proteini said, “It was incredible. I recovered from injury and won the championship from the first surgery of my life. Knowing that I did not play in my best matches, it was wonderful.”

It is noteworthy that Murray played in the 70th final of his career, his last victory at the Belgian Championships in Antwerp in 2019, while his last crown on the grass returned to Wimbledon in 2016.
