The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is inviting visitors from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to discover Thailand’s rich culture and distinctive experiences this autumn, with highlights scheduled from September through December 2025. From exploring hidden historical landmarks to enjoying the magical Festival of Lights, travellers from the GCC will find countless reasons to choose Thailand as their next destination.

Seasonal Highlights for GCC Visitors:

Three Essential Experiences for GCC Tourists in Thailand This Autumn

  • September – Explore Ayutthaya: Situated just an hour from Bangkok, Ayutthaya Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, provides an insightful window into Thailand’s golden age. Ideal for families and those passionate about history and culture, the atmospheric ruins and riverside setting offer a memorable day trip, complete with shopping and photo opportunities.
  • October – Phuket Vegetarian Festival (21–29 Oct): Phuket comes alive during this dynamic celebration, featuring colourful parades, dramatic performances, and distinctive culinary traditions. The festival blends deep-rooted heritage with contemporary appeal, attracting visitors from across the globe.
  • November – Festival of Lights (Loi Krathong & Yi Peng): Thailand’s most captivating festival sees rivers decorated with floating krathongs and Chiang Mai’s skies filled with thousands of lanterns. This annual event is both visually spectacular and spiritually significant, ranking among Asia’s most celebrated festivals.

New Travel Connections for GCC Visitors

Enhancing accessibility, Etihad Airways will launch its new direct service from Abu Dhabi to Chiang Mai on 3 November 2025. This connection makes it easier for GCC travellers to reach Northern Thailand, renowned for its luxury resorts, wellness escapes, and authentic cultural attractions.

Effortless Travel Experience

Thailand continues to stand out as a convenient short-haul destination for visitors from the GCC, offering:

  • Halal-certified dining and family-focused activities
  • Exclusive private villas and luxury pool retreats
  • Visa-free or visa-on-arrival options for GCC nationals and residents
  • Special promotions with airlines and travel partners to accommodate last-minute travel plans

“Thailand is proud to welcome GCC travelers with experiences that combine culture, luxury, and convenience,” said [Insert TAT Dubai Director’s Name]. “This season is especially exciting, with the Festival of Lights and Etihad’s new Chiang Mai service making Thailand even more accessible and inspiring.”

With world-class hospitality, cultural festivities, and enhanced connectivity, Thailand promises GCC travellers the chance to create stories that truly never end.
