Here are the facts about the UEFA Europa League final between Eintracht Frankfurt and Rangers today, Wednesday.

No Scottish team has won a European title since Alex Ferguson’s Aberdeen beat Real Madrid in the 1983 European Cup final.

– The Rangers, who beat Borussia Dortmund and Razen Bal Sport Leipzig after Real Madrid (Schalke, Dortmund and Bayern Munich) on the way to winning the Champions League in 2014, are seeking to become the first team to beat three German clubs in one edition.

The highest scorer in the European League this season is James Taverner (seven goals).

After Edwin van der Sar for Manchester United in the 2011 Champions League final, Rangers goalkeeper Alan McGregor is the second 40-year-old to play in the European final this century.

Steven Davis, 37, played in the 2008 European Cup final with the Rangers and would be the first player to play in two finals in Europe if he played against Indracht, 14 years apart.

– Eintracht reached the final of the 1980 FA Cup after waiting 42 years to defeat local rivals Borussia Monchengladbach in the final. Only Manchester City waited longer (51 years from 1970 to 2021).

Eintracht coach Oliver Glazner, along with Feyenoord and Hamburg, is looking forward to becoming the second Austrian coach to win the European Cup with Ernst Happel.
