From Tehran.. Saudi Foreign Minister Stresses Need to Be a Weapons of Mass Destruction Free Region

Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) — Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan stressed the need for a region free of weapons of mass destruction on Saturday as he recounted his talks with Iranian officials in Tehran. positive.”

“We stress the importance of a region free of weapons of mass destruction,” the Saudi foreign minister told a press conference with his Iranian counterpart, Amir Abdullahiyan.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan added, “We will work positively with Iran to achieve common interests. We hope that normal relations with Iran will be reflected in the region and the world again, and Saudi-Iranian cooperation is important for the country’s security. Water navigation.”

And the Saudi foreign minister continued: “Saudi Arabia and Iran are two important countries united by good neighbors in the region, and our relationship with Iran is based on respect for sovereignty and non-interference in its internal affairs.”

Prince Faisal bin Farhan revealed the imminent opening of a Saudi embassy in Iran, while noting that he would like to extend an invitation from Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz to Iranian President Mahmoud Raisi to visit the kingdom.

For his part, the Iranian foreign minister said: “We welcome the visit of the Saudi foreign minister and emphasize its importance for consolidating relations, and thank Saudi Arabia for facilitating the process of diplomatic repatriation.”

Amir Abdullahiyan added that he had exchanged the names of two ambassadors accredited to both countries with Saudi Arabia: “We are working to accredit them.”

The Iranian Foreign Minister held talks with Saudi Arabia on the formation of a Joint Economic, Political and Border Committee.

The exchange of visits between officials from the two countries comes after the signing of a Chinese-sponsored deal that restored ties between Saudi Arabia and Iran and ended a seven-year diplomatic rift.
