Indian expats seeking passport renewal at the new UAE centres now have 16 Indian Consular Application Centres (ICACs) across all seven emirates, run by Alhind Tours & Travels, with the Indian mission targeting clearance of the current appointment backlog by 15 August 2026.
The network serves a community of 4.3 million Indian nationals in the UAE. The flagship facility, at UW Mall in Bur Dubai, covers 12,000 square feet and has more than 70 counters, with a stated capacity of 8,000 applicants per day. Alhind Tours & Travels has said its target is for no applicant to spend more than 30 minutes from arrival to completion.
All centres operate from 8am to 6pm daily, according to the Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi. Applicants should arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before their appointment time; entry before that window is not permitted.
Fees for Indian passport renewal at UAE centres from July 2026
A revised fee schedule took effect on 1 July 2026. For a standard reissue of a 36-page passport, the fee is Dh450, up from Dh285. A 60-page passport reissue costs Dh630. The Tatkal fee for a 36-page passport is Dh900, as is the replacement fee for a lost or damaged 36-page passport, per the Consulate General of India Dubai’s fee revision notification.
On top of government fees, Alhind Tours & Travels levies a flat Dh19 service charge, inclusive of VAT. The Embassy of India confirmed that this covers form filling, photograph, document typing, domestic courier, printouts, and photocopies.
Passports issued to adults aged 18 and above are valid for ten years. Those issued to minors below 15 are valid for five years or until the applicant turns 18, whichever is earlier.
Who can use walk-in services and how to book an appointment
Walk-in access without a prior online appointment is available to four categories: Tatkal applicants with proof of urgent travel; newborns requiring a first passport; those applying for an emergency certificate after losing a passport; and senior citizens aged 60 and above, who are accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis at all ICACs. Walk-in applicants must carry documentation proving their circumstances, such as a confirmed flight ticket within two to three days or a medical emergency certificate.
For all other applicants, appointments are booked through the portal consularsevainuae.com. Registration requires a valid email address; a one-time password is sent to that address to complete sign-up. Applicants then select the required service, choose from the 16 centre locations, and pick an available time slot. The portal also allows application status tracking once a submission is made.
Appointment slots are currently in high demand. New slots are released twice daily at 9am and 9pm UAE time; applicants should log in at those times to improve their chances of securing a booking.
Tatkal service, which is available only for renewals with no change in personal particulars, carries a processing time of approximately three working days when all documents are in order. Standard renewals take between seven and 15 working days depending on application volume and police verification requirements.
Several categories are excluded from Tatkal: lost, stolen, or damaged passports; applications requiring a change to name, date of birth, place of birth, sex, or signature; applicants originating from Nagaland or Jammu and Kashmir; minors with single, separated, divorced, or adoptive parents; and applicants with active criminal court cases or adverse police verification records.
For a standard renewal, applicants need the original and a copy of the existing or expired passport, and two colour photographs (51mm x 51mm, plain white background, taken within the last three months). Additional documents are required for any change in particulars; the official website carries the current checklist.
Consul General Dr E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, who met members of the media at the Consulate General of India in Dubai on 6 August 2026, warned against agents charging inflated fees for appointments or fast-tracking. The background on the new Consul General’s career is carried by Deccan Chronicle.
The mission has committed to clearing the existing backlog by 15 August and expects processing times to improve once that is done.
