OMODA&JAECOO UAE Debuts JAECOO J8 SHS Performance at Dubai Autodrome

OMODA&JAECOO UAE held its first official test drive for the JAECOO J8 SHS at the Dubai Autodrome on 24 December. The event marked a key step for the brand in the UAE and introduced the Super Hybrid System to the local market through on-track driving sessions.

The closed-track experience brought together company teams, authorised dealer partners, and more than 40 journalists and influencers. Guests tested the JAECOO J8 SHS in real driving conditions and recorded live feedback based on direct use of the vehicle.

The programme opened with a product briefing and track safety session. Attendees received a detailed explanation of the JAECOO J8 SHS and its Super Hybrid System before moving onto the circuit.

At the centre of the event was the third-generation Super Hybrid System (SHS-P). This plug-in hybrid setup delivers high power and torque levels, comparable to a 6.0-litre V12 petrol engine, while supporting both daily driving and more demanding conditions.

The JAECOO J8 SHS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds. This performance places it among the quickest SUVs in its segment while maintaining stability and control.

During guided track sessions, drivers assessed handling, braking, and power delivery. A separate manoeuvrability challenge focused on parking and low-speed control, showing how the SUV handles tight spaces despite its size.

The Super Hybrid System also supports long-distance travel. With a full tank and battery charge, the JAECOO J8 SHS offers a combined range of more than 1,300 kilometres. It also provides an electric-only range of over 169 kilometres, covering most urban driving needs.

The system allows the vehicle to continue operating without external charging. The petrol engine works as a generator for the electric system, reducing reliance on charging infrastructure. Fast charging enables a charge from 30% to 80% in 25 minutes.

Inside, the JAECOO J8 SHS features a premium cabin with NAPPA leather upholstery, power-adjustable seats, and five massage modes designed for comfort during short and long journeys.

The vehicle includes up to 10 airbags and 19 advanced driver assistance systems, offering safety support for both city use and longer trips.

Shawn Xu, CEO of OMODA & JAECOO Automobile International, said:
“The JAECOO J8 SHS (Super Hybrid System) test drive at Dubai Autodrome demonstrates our confidence in the Super Hybrid System’s performance, technology, and real-world usability. From powerful acceleration and extended range to a premium cabin experience, the J8 SHS has been engineered to meet the expectations of UAE customers who demand both performance and luxury.”

The event underlined OMODA&JAECOO UAE’s focus on testing vehicles in real conditions as it builds its presence across the Emirates.
