Shams Studios Unveiled as 9,600 sqm Global Production Powerhouse in the UAE

Sharjah Media City (Shams) has announced the launch of Shams Studios, a major new production facility set to position Sharjah as a leading global destination for film, television and streaming content. Spanning 9,600 square metres, the newly developed soundstages have been purpose-built to international standards, establishing Shams Studios as one of the most technologically advanced studio complexes in the Middle East.

With production space in short supply across North America and Europe, Shams Studios aims to provide international producers—particularly from the UK, US and India—with large-scale stages, competitive production conditions and access to key regional and global markets. Opening at a time of ongoing international studio shortages, the new complex is designed to support high-volume content creation for global audiences.

At launch, Shams Studios will operate five state-of-the-art soundstages, offering a combined indoor footprint of 9,600 square metres. The configuration includes:

• Three stages of 1,500 square metres each

• One stage measuring 2,000 square metres

• A flagship stage of 3,100 square metres

All stages have been designed to adhere to international acoustic, engineering and electrical specifications, enabling them to host a wide range of productions, including:

• Premium television and streaming dramas

• Feature films and franchises

• Large-scale entertainment formats

• Multi-set productions

• Hybrid physical and virtual production environments

Shams Studios joins a growing network of regional media hubs such as Dubai Studio City, Abu Dhabi’s twofour54 and Saudi Arabia’s NEOM Media Industries, contributing to the expanding creative infrastructure of the region.

Developed within the broader Sharjah Media City ecosystem, Shams Studios will also incorporate:

• A proposed 700-seat theatre for premieres, events and cultural programming

• The Creative Oasis district, featuring public and educational amenities

• Production offices, workshops and post-production spaces

• Training labs and talent development schemes for regional creators
