Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Philippine beauty Fuchsia Anne Ravenna has won the 2022 Miss International Queen pageant, which has been described by organizers as the world’s largest beauty pageant for transgender people.
The 27-year-old entrepreneur from Cebu Province in the Philippines won the title during a television closing ceremony in Pattaya, Thailand on Saturday.
The Miss International Queen pageant was launched in 2004 and is open to transgender people who have been identified as male since birth.
Normally, this event takes place annually, but was canceled in 2021 due to the Govt-19 epidemic.
Held this year around the month of Pride, titled Pride Together.
Rafina was one of 23 contestants, followed by Yasmin Jimenez of Colombia and Ella Chanel of France in second and third place, respectively.
At the final event, which was broadcast live, contestants appeared on stage in evening dresses and national costumes.
In the Q&A section, Ravenna said the goal of being a transgender beauty queen is to “inspire others.”
In a video released by the tournament organizers prior to the event, Ravenna described her journey as a transgender person as “not easy” and stressed that “transgender people still have a long way to go in the fight for equality”.
Raveena received a prize of 450,000 Thai baht ($ 12,700) as well as various gifts from sponsors.
