In addition to preventing bad breath, reducing the risk of cavities, removing plaque and preventing gum disease, research has confirmed that regular glowing can enhance cognitive health because poor dental health can lead to a decline in cognitive abilities.

While brushing your teeth is very important, CNN Health reports that flossing at least once a day can lead to better brain health not only for adults but also for children.

One study found that people with tooth loss were 1.48 times more likely to develop cognitive impairment and 1.28 times more likely to develop dementia compared to others, and that with each extra tooth disappearing, the risk of cognitive impairment increased.

In addition, adults with tooth loss are more likely to have cognitive impairment if they do not have teeth.

“It is important to gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between poor oral health and cognitive decline, given the number of people with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia each year and the opportunity to improve oral health over a lifetime.

How does bad dental health affect brain cells?

Bacteria that cause gingivitis or irritation, redness and inflammation are linked to Alzheimer’s disease because this type of bacterium called “Porbromonas genivolis” can travel from the mouth to the brain and release enzymes that can destroy the nerve once it enters the brain. Cells, which can lead to memory loss and threaten cognitive health.

According to a survey conducted by the American Dental Association (ADA), only 16 percent of adults use dental floss, a percentage that is very poor because most people do not realize the importance of oral hygiene and flossing.

“Flossing also helps maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle, and using it after a meal will make you crave snacks,” said Shushin Bajaj, founding director of The Yugol Group Hospital.

How can parents encourage children to maintain dental health?

They can always introduce shiny fun ways, and it’s important for parents to do this with them too, so they can be companions and spend time with them brushing, brushing or flossing leading to a consistent choice of setting up a reward system.
