The Creative Media Authority (CMA) of Abu Dhabi has officially entered into a strategic partnership with NG9 Holding—a consortium that brings together Nirvana Holding, Gewan Holding, and 9Yards Group—to launch a range of cross-sector creative ventures.
As part of this collaboration, the partners will produce two major feature films and a ten-episode television series, collectively valued at AED55 million (approximately US$15 million), with plans for global release.
Filming is scheduled to commence in September and will prioritise the involvement of Emirati talent, both in front of and behind the camera. The production will benefit from the Abu Dhabi Film Commission’s enhanced rebate scheme, designed to highlight the region’s cultural legacy and creative capabilities.
CMA will support the initiative through key services, including assistance with location scouting, talent development programmes, casting support, and access to the ADFC’s financial rebate.
In turn, NG9 Group will provide preferential access to hospitality and transport services for projects endorsed by the ADFC—this includes special rates on hotels, flights, car rentals, and exclusive vehicle options such as yachts and private aircraft.
Khalid Khouri, Director of Industry Development at the Creative Media Authority, said, “As we work to position Abu Dhabi as one of the world’s leading creative hubs, expanding our local industry offering remains a core focus. This exciting new partnership with extensive NG9 team opens up fresh opportunities for investment and collaboration, driving growth across the local economy.”
Alaa Al Ali, Group Chief Executive Officer of NG9 Holding, added, “Aligned with our commitment to advancing the UAE’s economy through innovation, local partnerships, sustainability, and community engagement, we are proud to collaborate with CMA. This partnership will not only deliver internationally distributed creative content but will also create career opportunities for talented young filmmakers from Abu Dhabi.”
Sameer Al Jaberi, Head of Abu Dhabi Film Commission, commented, “This collaboration adds value and aligns with our vision to attract additional production partners who can leverage and utilize our rebate program – including those partners who are able to reflect our wide variety of filming locations on screen, employ our talented production specialists and businesses and showcase the rich cultural and social heritage of Abu Dhabi in engaging television and film content.”
Rami Tmaish, General Manager of 9Yards Pictures, shared his enthusiasm for the initiative, underlining its potential to present Emirati talent to global audiences.
He also confirmed that active efforts are underway to scout local actors, directors, and writers as part of a broader plan to cultivate a dynamic production ecosystem and amplify the global visibility of modern Emirati storytelling.
