Elon Musk, CEO of X, SpaceX, Tesla and Starlink, met with the leadership of the BRIDGE Summit at Tesla’s headquarters in Palo Alto, California, to explore future opportunities in technology and media and discuss potential areas of collaboration. During the meeting, Musk was formally invited to attend the inaugural BRIDGE Summit, billed as the world’s largest debut gathering for media, content and entertainment, taking place in Abu Dhabi from 8 to 10 December.

The BRIDGE delegation was led by H.E. Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the UAE National Media Office, the UAE Media Council and BRIDGE. The discussions reflect BRIDGE’s strategy to strengthen partnerships with technology pioneers and global innovation centres, fostering closer cooperation between the media industry and advanced technologies.

The meeting’s agenda focused on artificial intelligence, data centres and content integrity as key drivers of transformation. Musk highlighted that future innovation would rely heavily on nations’ ability to provide data centres powered by clean and affordable energy, citing the UAE’s strong positioning in this field. H.E. Al Hamed reiterated that the UAE offers clean, low-cost energy with large-scale capacity and global competitiveness, underscoring its readiness to lead in AI and advanced technologies.

Musk commended the UAE’s forward-thinking leadership under His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and praised the contributions of His Highness Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, as well as the role of the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence in reinforcing the UAE’s standing as a hub for innovation.

During a tour of the Optimus robotics laboratory, the two parties discussed the balance between innovation and ethical regulatory measures. Both sides underscored the importance of establishing a global framework to ensure responsible AI deployment in content creation, regulation and distribution.

The meeting also explored future cooperation opportunities, including collaborations within the UAE’s growing media and technology ecosystem, joint initiatives in media and AI innovation, the development of educational content to inspire young people in science and entrepreneurship, and programmes linking green technologies with media narratives.

H.E. Al Hamed said: “The UAE believes that the media is a powerful force capable of reshaping knowledge and building awareness. Collaboration with leading institutions enables the exchange of expertise, accelerates the adoption of innovative solutions, and delivers tangible, sustainable impact.”

The upcoming BRIDGE Summit promises to provide “an exceptional platform for testing bold and unconventional solutions” aimed at reshaping the media industry, rebuilding public trust and creating a shared vision for the future.
