Amazon stretches Prime Day to seven days as delivery-in-minutes battle heats up

Amazon.ae launches its Prime Day sale on June 24 at one minute past midnight, promising delivery measured in minutes rather than hours. The event runs through June 30—seven full days, not the traditional 48-hour sprint.

Millions of deals will go live across the shopping platform, from groceries to gaming consoles.

But speed, not just savings, appears to be the real pitch. Amazon Now—the retailer’s rapid-fulfilment service—will ferry everyday essentials and fresh products to doorsteps within minutes for Prime members ordering over AED 25. Rush delivery shrinks the window to two hours for orders exceeding AED 100.

The emphasis on velocity reflects broader consumer expectations in the Emirates. Research conducted by HarrisX between April 28 and May 15 this year found that 92% of UAE shoppers prioritise fast delivery, while 41% specifically value the ability to order last-minute essentials quickly. The survey, commissioned by Amazon and spanning 25 countries, polled online shoppers who’d made purchases in the preceding three months.

Stretching Prime Day to a full week marks a shift from the compressed, adrenaline-fuelled format that typically defines the event. Whether that dilutes urgency or simply spreads spending across more pay cycles remains to be seen.

Stefano Martinelli, Vice President of Amazon Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey, framed the extended event around keeping pace with the Emirates. “Life in the UAE moves fast, and our customers expect us to match that pace – that’s why we’re focused on fast delivery across thousands of products, including delivery in minutes with Amazon Now,” he said. “Prime Day is where that speed and selection meet unbeatable value, with incredible deals and even more ways to save, exclusively for our members. The value of Prime keeps growing, and this year is no exception. There’s never been a better time to be a Prime member in the UAE, and we hope shoppers make the most of it.”

The psychology of deal-hunting also features prominently in Amazon’s positioning. HarrisX data shows 81% of UAE shoppers find securing a good deal satisfying, while 74% say it makes them feel like a smart shopper. Another finding: 44% compare prices during major sales events, and 33% deliberately postpone purchases until occasions like Prime Day arrive.

That behaviour explains the layered savings mechanisms Amazon has assembled for the week.

Prime members using the Amazon Credit Card earn up to 6% back on purchases. New applicants signing up between June 17 and 30 receive an additional 25% off—capped at AED 150—plus a welcome bonus reaching AED 500. Cardholders also get 30% off Amazon Now orders during Prime Day, though that discount maxes out at AED 30.

Bank partnerships add further reductions: up to 20% off with ADCB credit cards, up to 10% with Mastercard. Buy-now-pay-later options through Tabby and Tamara split payments into four interest-free instalments, while participating banks offer zero-percent instalment plans at checkout.

Customers purchasing Amazon.ae eGift cards worth AED 300 or more between June 22 and 30 receive up to AED 45 in promotional credit. New Amazon Now users can claim up to 50% off their first four orders, then up to AED 20 off subsequent orders during the sale week.

The discounts themselves sprawl across more than 30 categories.

Everyday essentials and fresh products—coffee, water, laundry supplies, cleaning products—carry reductions up to 30%, covering brands like Nespresso, Lavazza, Acqua Panna, San Pellegrino, Ariel, and Dove. Amazon Now categories, including fresh produce, meat, seafood, dairy, and frozen items, drop up to 70%. Suppliers include Driscoll’s, Dole, Barakat, Sadia, Fresh to Home, Wall’s, and The Brooklyn Creamery.

Technology enthusiasts can find up to 40% off devices from Samsung, Lenovo, Sony, Hisense, JBL, LG, PlayStation, Nintendo, Meta Quest, Xbox, and Canon. The deals cover smartphones, laptops, monitors, televisions, gaming consoles, VR headsets, and headphones. Amazon’s own hardware—Ring doorbells, Echo speakers, Kindle e-readers—sees reductions up to 70%.

Beauty and skincare lines from Dior, Gucci, Versace, Yves Saint Laurent, LancĂ´me, medicube, NIVEA, L’OrĂ©al, KÉRASTASE, Dyson, OLAPLEX, and Minimalist drop up to 60%. Fashion and accessories—shoes, bags, watches, sunglasses, apparel, luggage—from Boss, Lacoste, Skechers, Asics, Marc Jacobs, Tissot, Emporio Armani, Michael Kors, Ray-Ban, Crocs, PUMA, and Samsonite fall up to 50%.

Home and kitchen appliances attract up to 35% reductions. Robot vacuums, air purifiers, coffee machines, washing machines, air conditioners, and cookware from Dreame, Dyson, Levoit, roborock, Samsung, Ninja, BLACK+DECKER, Nespresso, De’Longhi, and Pro Breeze feature in the sale.

Parents can access up to 50% off toys and baby essentials, including car seats and skincare products from LEGO, Skillmatics, Pokémon, Pampers, Huggies, BabyJoy, Pigeon, Momcozy, Jovikids, and Mustela.

International inventory from Amazon’s US, UK, and German operations becomes accessible via the Global Store, with free international delivery. Brands include Kiko Milano, Milk Makeup, Tom’s of Maine, Pacifica, Carhartt, and Salewa.

Amazon Bazaar—the platform’s budget-focused marketplace—offers fashion, home, and lifestyle items starting at AED 4. Prime members entering code APD10 receive up to 30% off orders exceeding AED 200, or up to 20% off orders above AED 100.

The HarrisX research also uncovered that 94% of UAE shoppers consider free delivery their most valued membership benefit—higher than any other perk Amazon bundles with Prime.

Prime membership costs AED 16 monthly or AED 140 annually. Beyond Prime Day access, it includes year-round benefits: fast and free delivery, exclusive deals, early sale access, Prime Video streaming, Prime Gaming, complimentary Deliveroo Plus Silver, free fuel delivery through Cafu, free international shipping on Bazaar orders, and 10% off Amazon Home Services.

Whether seven days of sustained discounting shifts shopping behaviour—or simply stretches the same spending over more time—won’t become clear until the final tallies emerge in July. What’s evident now is that Amazon is testing whether endurance can replace intensity, and whether delivery measured in minutes becomes the baseline expectation rather than the exception.
