The Kalba park projects advanced by the Sharjah Department of Public Works have reached a new milestone, with Al Saf 7 Park fully handed over to the beneficiary authority and several others at 90 per cent completion. Development works at Al Sidra Park are also finished, though construction continues on the remaining sites.
Al Saf 7 Park handed over at 65,700 square metres
Al Saf 7 Park, covering 65,700 square metres, is the largest of the sites to reach completion. The Sharjah Department of Public Works confirmed the handover, which it said forms part of the emirate’s long-term programme to expand public amenities in Kalba and improve quality of life for residents of the eastern city.
The department said the projects are being delivered in coordination with the Kalba Municipal Council. Engineer Khadija Al Dhuhouri, from the department’s Kalba branch, said the parks are designed to go beyond landscaped green areas. The aim, she said, is to create community spaces where families can spend time together, children can play safely outdoors, and residents can pursue more active lifestyles.
Al Dhuhouri added that the designs complement Kalba’s natural environment while supporting Sharjah’s wider goal of building sustainable, people-centred communities.
What the completed Kalba park projects will offer residents
Once the remaining sites are open, residents will have new venues for leisure, exercise, and community gatherings. The parks are intended to encourage outdoor activity and provide year-round spaces for families, children, and visitors.
A note on the project figures: one report described a separate park at approximately 5,000 square metres and 91 per cent complete, with a football pitch, children’s play area, and service facilities. That account conflicts with the department’s stated figures for Al Saf 7 Park and may relate to a different site or phase. The department’s own position, as communicated through its Kalba branch, is that Al Saf 7 Park at 65,700 square metres has been fully completed and handed over.
The Sharjah Department of Public Works has in recent years pursued a broad capital programme across the emirate, covering infrastructure and public amenities. The Kalba park projects sit within that broader investment in the emirate’s eastern region.
Kalba has attracted sustained public investment in community facilities as Sharjah develops its eastern corridor. The eastern city is known for its coastal setting, mangroves, and nature reserve, and the new parks are intended to add to its recreational offer for residents and visitors alike.
The department said parks of this kind are designed to meet the aspirations of current and future generations, with layouts that account for the city’s continued population growth. No completion date has been announced for the sites still under construction.
The next concrete milestone is the completion and opening of the remaining parks, which the department said are at 90 per cent completion as of the date of this announcement.
