Riyadh Season Enters the Metaverse: The Gang Brings Saudi Arabia’s Premier Festival to Roblox

Games developer studio The Gang, in partnership with Big Time Creative Shop, has unveiled an extraordinary new Roblox experience dedicated to Riyadh Season — Saudi Arabia’s largest and most anticipated annual festival. The virtual world recreates the thrill, atmosphere, and cultural spirit of Riyadh Season, blending tourism, entertainment, and interactive gaming in a way never seen before.

In a major incentive for global players, several participants from the USA, UK, and Saudi Arabia will have the chance to win 1 million Robux each. Robux, the in-game currency of Roblox, holds a real-world equivalent value exceeding $7,500 per winner.

The new immersive world captures the essence of Riyadh Season, transforming its real-life landmarks and attractions into a dynamic digital landscape within Roblox. Visitors can take part in treasure hunts and enjoy mini-games such as Obbys, Tennis, and Whack-A-Mole, while also exploring international-themed areas inspired by destinations like Paris, Kuwait, Italy, and South Korea. Players can even enjoy dazzling virtual fireworks displays to celebrate the festival atmosphere.

Running concurrently with the physical Riyadh Season — which spans from October to March — the Roblox version mirrors the six-month extravaganza of concerts, sporting events, and cultural showcases. The real-world event features celebrated venues including Boulevard City, Boulevard World, and Kingdom Arena. Since its debut in 2019, Riyadh Season has grown into one of the world’s largest winter festivals, welcoming over 18 million visitors in 2024.

The Gang was commissioned to translate the energy and excitement of Riyadh Season into a digital experience for a global audience. Working hand-in-hand with Big Time Creative Shop, the team developed a world that functions both as an engaging Roblox game and as a true-to-life representation of the festival’s vibrancy and spirit.

Max Proctor, CEO of The Gang, commented, “It has been a privilege for us to create Riyadh Season on Roblox. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is fast becoming the global epicentre of the gaming industry and so working with the Big Time Creative Shop team on the ground in Riyadh has been incredibly exciting. You can really feel the sense of enthusiasm, ambition and momentum within the Saudi gaming ecosystem.”

Throughout the duration of the festival, players will have opportunities to collect golden tickets, merge UGC items, and unlock a limited-edition Riyadh Season Robot avatar. The experience will continue to evolve, introducing major competitions, new content updates, and themed additions such as the upcoming Beast Land area, along with two new mini-games inspired by boxing and wrestling events — encouraging players to return regularly for fresh experiences.

Roblox currently boasts an impressive 380 million monthly active users and over 100 million daily active users, with players spending an average of two hours and fifty minutes on the platform each day.
