Need a post-summer fitness goal? The XDubai Spartan Women’s Race is here to whip us all into shape.
Warriors aged 15 and over can take on the gritty obstacle race when it returns to Jebel Ali Race Course in October. Like last year, there will be some seriously tough challenges and it’s doubled in size on last year, with spots for 2,000 runners.
Here’s what you need to know
The event on 27th October is divided into a five kilometre Sprint packed with 20 Spartan obstacles and a 13km Super run where competitors face 25 things they need run, jump or climb over and even more rugged terrain. Both categories have Elite and age group categories, so you can go head-to-head with your peers and win cash prizes. There are also races for kids aged four to 14 years.
Although the race is open to ladies only, everyone’s welcome to cheer from the sidelines.
It’s not just about staying in shape
The race’s second ever Dubai edition takes place during the second annual Dubai Fitness Challenge, when the emirate comes together to workout for one month from 19th October. It also falls during Breast Cancer Awareness month and Spartan Arabia has pledged to give some of the proceeds from the event to the Al Jalila Foundation, in partnership with Brest Friends, to support breast cancer patients and fund ongoing research.
To have you race ready, free hour-long training sessions take place every Saturday at the Dubai Sports City indoor football pitch. To Spartan Up, ladies, be there for 9am to sign up for a 10am start.
Sprint race from AED 290; Super from AED 367. Registration opens 6am, 27th October, Jebel Ali Race Course. Book your place and sign up for free training at www.spartanarabia.com
