Yes, this Wednesday you can get a free cup of coffee at Costa and help save the environment. The ‘perks’ of being an eco warrior.
The 5th June is World Environment Day, a time for reflecting on whether we’re all doing what we can to protect this world we live in. It’s a dilemma the team at Costa have taken seriously.
They’ve made three commitments to coincide with the day, to help raise awareness of environmental issues and the need for a more sustainable future.
Costa has teamed up with DXB (Dubai International Airport) and sculpture artist Mariska Nell to create a work of art that is already on display at the arrivals hall of terminal three in DXB. The piece entitled ‘The Last Straw’ was created by recycling 60,000 sipping tubes, keeping plastic out of our landfills and oceans, and looking fabulous whilst doing it.
What about the free coffee?
Alright, chill out, looks like somebody hasn’t had their cup of Joe yet today. Anyone heading into Costa on Wednesday (5th June) with a reusable coffee cup will get a free coffee. You show them you care, they’ll show you they care.
This ‘save a cup, save some cash‘ deal is not just a one time gig – for the other 364 days of the year, take your own travel cup into the coffee chain and you get a AED 2 discount. Since February 2019, this initiative has saved 20,000 cups – we’ll drink (coffee) to that.
Finally, Costa has made further environmentally-friendly changes to it’s non edibles. Launching on Wednesday, napkins and cupholders will be made from recycled materials in all stores to help reduce paper wastage in the region.
