The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), in partnership with the Dubai Club for People of Determination, held an awareness walk at Al Shindagha Historic Neighbourhood to mark White Cane Safety Day, which is commemorated each year on 15 October. The initiative underscores Dubai Culture’s ongoing commitment to empowering People of Determination by nurturing their talents, enhancing their inclusion in cultural activities, and supporting Dubai Government’s ‘My Community… A City for Everyone’ initiative aimed at making the emirate fully accessible and inclusive.
The awareness walk formed part of a broader programme of cultural and community events organised jointly by the Authority and the Club to promote understanding of the rights of the visually impaired and the importance of their active integration into society. The event also sought to raise awareness about the necessity of accessible urban spaces and infrastructure, while emphasising the white cane’s role as a vital symbol of autonomy and independence for individuals with visual impairments.

Dubai Culture continues to prioritise inclusive innovation across its cultural and heritage sites, ensuring all facilities are equipped with accessibility features designed to meet the needs of People of Determination. This reflects the Authority’s deep sense of social responsibility and its efforts to guarantee that everyone can enjoy the city’s rich cultural offerings, in line with the National Policy for Empowering People of Determination and Dubai’s vision of enhancing quality of life for all.
