The Terry Fox Run returns to Dubai for its 23rd year – continuously raising as much awareness as possible about cancer, and funds for cancer research.
Held under the kind patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the Dubai Terry Fox Run is, and always has been, organised completely by volunteers, and all resources are donated to ensure all funds raised go towards UAE’s cancer research projects.

The Marathon of Hope
“I feel strong not only physically, but more important, emotionally. Soon I will be adding one full mile a week, and coupled with weight training I have been doing, by next April I will be ready to achieve something that for me was once only a distant dream reserved for the world of miracles – to run across Canada to raise money for the fight against cancer.”
“The running I can do, even if I have to crawl every last mile.”
– Terry Fox, 15th October, 1979
Sadly his cancer spread and the 22-year old Terry Fox was unable to complete his marathon across Canada, but his attempts did not go to waste. He triggered the beginning of a worldwide effort to spread awareness and raise funds for cancer research.
As everyone got inspired by his efforts, The Terry Fox Run started popping up all over the world and even made its way to Dubai in 1994 – and it’s back again this year on February 18th.
Who can participate?
Absolutely anyone! The event is a non-competitive charity cause where you can walk, run, jog, roller blade, bicycle, use a wheelchair or get pushed on a stroller – as long as you’re having fun.
How can you contribute?
By just turning up! Sign ups are free, but if you’d like to do more for the cause, you can download the pledge sheets on the website and collect funds, or contribute whatever little you can to support cancer research.
In order to ensure that everyone gets their Terry Fox Run t-shirts, participants are encouraged to collect them at the collection points prior to the event, where they can also register themselves.
