Fancy zip lining over the Dubai Fountains, right past the Burj Khalifa, directly to the world’s largest mall? Our writer Chandini Guria tried out the XLine, and so can you.
The 558-metre XLine begins 32 stories high from the Burj Residences, and ends just outside The Dubai Mall.
The girl who zipped off before me was absolutely terrified and almost in tears, however I surprisingly wasn’t considering it was my first time going zip lining. I guess I was just way too excited, leaving no room for fear.
The excitement only grew as they strapped me up in the suit, and linked it to the zip line. Hanging mid-air, the countdown began – three, two, one – and I was pushed off into the sky.
Initially it felt like I was falling rapidly, as the XLine plunged downwards directly to the fountains, but after about 10 seconds it slowed down slightly and I had more than enough time to enjoy the view of the Burj and take a couple of selfies as well.
I landed perfectly at XDubai’s landing area attached to Dubai Mall, where I was greeted with an applause. Overall, it was a thrilling experience with one of the most beautiful views I have ever witnessed, and I would suggest everyone signs up to try it out.
As soon as the daring crown prince HH Sheikh Hamdan posted a video of himself on the XLine, with stunning views of the Burj area, one question that crossed the minds of Dubai’s adrenaline junkies was: ‘Can we do it too?’
And the answer is yes! However, you have to win it through XDubai’s social media channels. For more info, visit facebook.com/XDubai.
