Pacifier crew, dig out your dummies. There’s a new monthly rave up in town and this one has no age restrictions.
Words: Miles Buckeridge
Dad blogger Vip Patel and Tim Woodcock, founder of Bassworx drum and bass night, have created Party Monsters, Dubai’s first family rave.
It’s an event made for the jilted generation who skanked, flexed, wormed and shuffle-stepped their way across the dance floors of the nineties and early noughties. True ravers that have now grown-up (in some respects) and passed the glow-stick baton on to their children.
The opening session on Saturday, November 11th at The Backyard in Steigenberger Hotel, Business Bay, will see parents and kids united in partying to the sickest house, drum and bass and garage bangers flipped by DJs Woodle and Tigger.
That feeling when the beat drops!
Because little people have sensitive ears, organiser will set the sound system at a level which is safe for children of all ages, making it a great way to introduce kids as young as one or two to DJs on the ones and twos.
More than the music
We wish more clubs had balloon animal making, face-painting, street magic and a solid range of food and drink options available. Party Monsters will have all the above and obviously be well kitted-out with baby changing and feeding stations. A-parrot-ly there’s even a jungle fancy dress theme for the opening party. We’re not even lion.
The tickets, which include a ‘rave kit’ for kids, are on sale NOW. As with all the best raves from the golden era, there is no footwear policy on the door, but adults must be accompanied by a kid.
Saturday, November 11th at The Backyard in Steigenberger Hotel, Business Bay. Tickets AED 35-AED 70. Under twos go free. www.dubai.platinumlist.net
