Golositalia is the place where the Jumeirah Lake Towers community socialises around homemade dishes with fresh ingredients and genuine Italian coffee.
Daniela is one of the many familiar faces that drop by during the weekend to enjoy authentic pizza, pasta, gelato or coffee – all flagship dishes of Golositalia Italian café in JLT.
When asked: “What makes you come here again?” her response is “this place feels like home.”
At Golositalia, the smell of coffee and freshly baked pastries, blends with the sound of spoons tinkling and snatches of customers’ conversations to create a warm atmosphere that transports us to the local cafeterias of our childhood.
It first opened in 2013 as a coffee bar and trattoria restaurant and has become a meeting place for friends, families and workers in the neighbourhood. Genuine Italian recipes, excellent service and good prices seem to be a formula of its success.
Plenty of choices could also be a factor – the menu has 23 sections, ranging from pastries and gelato to pasta and pizza. We’re told everything is created in-house.
While browsing these many pages, we spot a great deal in the breakfast options – The ‘Golosa’ includes eggs done any way (even Royal or Benedict), with beef sausage, turkey bacon, hash brown, bread basket, butter and jam, two small croissants, fresh juice and a coffee, tea or cappuccino for AED 58.
As well as ordering this feast, we go for pan-fried breaded chicken with rice (AED 44), handmade tagliatelle bolognesa (AED 42) pizza margueritta (AED 44) and an apple puff (AED 12).
The Italian ethos even extends to the multicultural staff speaking Italian. They are friendly, attentive and seem to be proud to be part of this Italian family.
