10 next level desserts for the ultimate cool down

Fresh fruit and rolled ice-creams, frozen shakes and healthy kheer – here’s our pick of the coolest desserts in town to help you beat the heat this summer.

Tru Frut Naturals Ice-cream, Govinda’s

Lowdown: 100 per cent natural fresh fruits converted to 100 per cent yummy ice-creams that are sweet but never sickly.

With most of the flavours based on seasonal fruits, there’s always something to try out. We love custard apple, yoyo coconut, mango madness and cheeky chickoo flavours. Yep, we’ve tried a few.

Lowdown: Traditional hot chai keeps us warm in the winter months and now there’s frozen chai to keep us hydrated and cool in the summer. We tried this magical concoction of ice and cream at Dubai Food Festival in March and we can’t wait to drink it again.

Chai lovers, find The Inventing Room’s pop-up entertainment station at Rise Creek Harbour and Al Barsha Pond Park every weekend until summer. Be sure to sample the frozen Cheetos too!

Lowdown: Better known for its amazing kulfi, Kulfilicious also serves some of the best faloodas in town. Beat the heat with this rollercoaster of a traditional Indian dessert, in exotic flavours like rabri and pistachio.

The combination of kulfi and falooda gets our mouth watering every time and do not pass up on their Sultani sundae; it’s rich and royal in every way!

For a lighter dessert, they also have some really crazy ice-lolly flavours.

Lowdown: Solve that sugar fix with Sugaholic’s signature cheesecake, made with yummy Nutella, on a base of crispy biscuits, topped with whipped cream and an Oreo biscuit. The soft, crunchy feeling from your first bite will stay with you long after you have hogged the whole cake.

Sugaholic also excels in really cute cupcakes, macaroons and cake pops, which can be customised to order.

Mr Frost ice cream

Lowdown: If you haven’t obsessively watched Mr Frost’s videos, it’s worth checking out his food truck to see this fascinating ice-cream concept. Watch as milk is splashed on an ice slab, mixed with fresh fruits and other treats of your choice, then beaten around a slab and twirled into a creamy roll. How cool is that?

They’ve all kinds of flavours – name it, watch it and savour it!

Quinoa Kheer, Taj Hotel

Suffused with superfood goodness, it’s so guilt-free that it’s pretty much salad. Almost.
