We’re not ready to say goodbye to the cooler weather just yet, and there are worse to make the most of than dancing in the streets of Jumeirah Beach Residence.
The waterfront hangout is to play host to Street Beats, a 10-day street music festival where 60 local and international artists from 20 countries will put on an impressive 600 performances.
JBR becomes an open-air stage for the world’s best buskers from 15th-24th March and there’s absolutely no charge to check them out. The line-up is best described as ‘quirky’ and must-sees include Saw Guy, an artist making music on saws; Spanish artist Doctor Bucketman, who obviously turns buckets, pots and pans into impressive percussion; Simon Wood, who has pioneered the sound of the strange UFO-shaped hang instrument and Stranger Faces, who use a loop station, Ed Sheeran’s controversial Glastonbury gadget, to create their own genre of lo-fi funk.
They’ll be joined clutch of global and homegrown talent at the festival, part of the #WOWJBR campaign, which launched in November 2017 to transform JBR’s 1.7 km promenade into a venue for a series of fun-filled weekend events and has certainly ticked boxes so far.
15th-24th March, JBR. Admission is free. Find a full schedule of shows at www.jbrdubai.net
