Dubai Week

Time to watch moonlight movies at these outdoor cinemas

There’s something about watching your favourite stars on screen, under the glow of the sky’s own stellar cast, that connects you with the REEL magic of cinema.

Dubai’s beautiful autumn temperatures and minimal rainfall creates an almost perfect climate for outdoor cinemas. So it’s only natural that each year we see a fine crop of al fresco screens springing up over the emirate. With more to be announced shortly, these are some of the best opportunities to catch fresh-air flicks…

Vox Outdoor at Galleria Mall

Situated on top of the Galleria Mall, the Vox Outdoor Cinema provides a luxury movie-watching experience with a spectacular view of the city. The vibe is set distinctly with a very comfy spectating perch and the ticket price include a picnic pack with delicious sippables and munchables. Because it’s Vox, you’ll get to see all the bang-up-to-date releases in a suitably dramatic setting.

Galleria Mall. From AED 137 (AED 158 at weekends), children from AED 90, VIP Couch package AED 316 for two (AED 368 at weekends). Timings from 7.30pm, check scheduling and book on Now showing: A Star is Born, Venom.

Yas Movies in the Park

Yas movies in the park

This silver screen adventure, as the name suggests, is not in Dubai. It’s a special weekend of outdoor cinema action and special movie-themed entertainment in the dU Arena on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. However it’s totally worth the road trip, because it’s absolutely FREE to get in. Events kick off on Thursday, 18th October with a triple header of Moana, Jurassic World and IT. The latter is a fantastic Stephen King horror reboot that is probably not for the kiddlywinks.

You’ll also find food trucks, a mini Smash Room, games, a 3D simulator, professional dancers from London’s West End and a whole bunch more.

dU Arena, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. 18th-20th October. Free entry. Event 3pm-12am, movies start from 6pm. For a full showtime schedule and to register your free spot now, visit
