There’s a free festival coming up at Alserkal Avenue

Quoz Arts Fest, Alserkal Avenue

People and pets are welcome to the next Al Quoz Arts Fest.

The two-day celebration of arts and culture returns on 25th and 26th January for its seventh edition. Entry is free into a weekend world of film screenings, live music, tours and workshops.

This year’s theme is CTRL+ALT+ACTION – which is a shortcut to visitors learning more the small changes that contribute to environmental sustainability. Take part in free workshops in going green, like ‘Rethinking Food Waste’ at Warehouse Eighteen and ‘Rethink Plastic’ at Akka Project Dubai.

Stretch your legs and explore the alleys of Alserkal Avenue with free guided tours of its art gallery, a curated trail of sound and Gulf Photo Plus photo walks. There’s also a showcase of Emirati wildlife photography at Mirzam chocolate factory and café, if you need an excuse to pop in and samples their sweet creations.

If you’d prefer something more hands-on, ChariCycles and Metal Art by will hold upcycling art workshops for children and adults, and there’s an interactive class on the power of composting at contemporary kimono and art space CHI-KA.

During the fest, the closing nights of the Reel Palestine Film Festival 2019 take place at Cinema Akil, Dubai’s first arthouse cinema. Tickets are AED 52.50. More culture comes courtesy of the Short+Sweet Theatre Festival, a six-week collection of 10-minute plays by local writers, actors and theatre groups, happening at The Junction over Quoz Fest. Standard tickets for that are AED 100.

Although entry to Quoz Fest is free, make sure to bring some spends so you can shop your way around the Good Vibes Market or grab something to eat from Alserkal’s various eateries, like the super healthy vegan hangout Wild and the Moon.

Update – getting there is now easy too, as there’s a free shuttle bus between Noor Bank Metro Station and Alserkal Avenue, leaving every two hours between 10am-8pm and returning to the Metro at 1.30pm, 3.30pm, 7.30pm and 10pm.
