A patriotic rush of sugar coming your way as American shake specialists Black Tap blend up a red white and blue combination for today’s 243rd American Independence Day that can’t be trumped. The Stars and Stripes-themed CrazyShake sees vanilla ice-cream topped with a red, white and blue cake slice, whipped cream, sprinkles, a cherry and a firecracker popsicle. Yee-ha!

It’s [u]bk’s fifth birthday this weekend and to celebrate this important milestone, boys brunch for FREE when they bring a lady friend, and she only has to pay AED 265 for the house beverage package. FYI if you’re heading AUH way – there are FREE buses from The Dubai Mall, Deira City Centre and Mall of the Emirates directly to Ferrari World’s location on Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi. It also means you won’t risk picking any fines up on the way home after developing a taste for speed.

A hug has the same hit ratio of making things better as Ryan Reynolds. Miss Tess might not have Deadpool in town, on Saturday it does have bottomless free hugs for International Free Hugs Day. Also in weird Deadpool coincidence, they do have be-costumed entertainers that often dress as ninjas. Sunday is World Chocolate Day (free hugs then chocolate ? We’ve never felt so appreciated) and Deliveroo wants to take chocolate from the Italian artisanal kitchens of Via Vita and deliver it straight to your face. The chocolate comes in the form of exceptionally tasty Pasta Di Cacao (yep choccy pasta) not only threatens to taste incredible but will also look slamming on the ‘gram.

Put your hands together

The Junction is bringing a special three-night run of Martin McDonagh’s (In Bruges, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) superbly crafted play – A Behanding in Spokane to Dubai. The story follows a man’s search for his long-lost hand and includes black comedy, scintillating dialogue and a lot of profanity. You have been warned.

Laguna Philippines kabayan weekend

The Kabayan weekend at Laguna Waterpark, La Mer, grants access to the dramatic aquatic fun space for AED 49 per person. In keeping with traditional South East-Asian hospitality, the Philippines-themed party welcomes all nationalities and includes a live DJ, karaoke and authentic Filipino foodie favourites including, pancit, adobo and halo halo.

If you’re reading this, chances are you’ve missed out on Glasto tickets again this year. But dry your eyes mate, garden on 8 has the remedy. The Friday brunch is pouring a good measure of Glastonbury festival sauce all over it. Expect: EIGHT live bands, a DJ, a BBQ feast, a climate controlled tent, four bars on your phone. Fun in buckets and spades as Dubai Marina Mall invites us all to an indoor beach party. While we take a break from Dubai’s beaches over the scorching summer, we can still feel the sand between our toes. Parents need to show a AED 100 receipt for goods bought in the mall that day for AAA to a mini ‘beach,’ arts and crafts stations and a giant ball pit too.

Saturday, 29th June

A league of their own

The Justice League (Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, The Flash and possibly Judge Judy depending on scheduling clashes) will be appearing at City Centre Deira between 27th June-6th July. The heroes we want, and arguably deserve, will be performing live shows and training up willing new recruits a using Virtual Reality superhero simulator. Any villains contemplating nefarious deeds would be wise to steer clear of the Deira over that period.

Sumo Sushi & Bento has started doing breakfast – and it’s not what you think. Whilst we’re on-board with sashimi first thing in the morning, we understand we’re probably in the minority. Instead enjoy a full Japanese morning-friendly spread  of awesome omelettes, fluffy pancakes, indulgent ingredient-packed porridge, fancy toast options and more.

Any outside yoga is hot yoga right now and this vinyasa flow session in JLT park is sure to work up a sweat. This session is for all levels, from the very beginner to the regular practitioner.
