How to celebrate India and Pakistan Independence Day in Dubai

India and Pakistan, two great nations that have contributed much to the fabric of Dubai. They’re both celebrating their independence next week, and we’ve rounded-up a few great ways to join them in jubilation.

Pakistan’s Independence Day falls on the 14th August, India’s is on the 15th. These are just some of the ways venues around Dubai are marking the important dates.

Indya by Vineet

Launched earlier this year, Indya is an Indian dining concept conceived by the internationally-renowned Chef Vineet. The restaurant has crafted an appropriately colourful set menu for the occasion of Indian Independence Day, featuring three courses of South Asian culinary excellence. It all begins with the ‘samosa pinwheel,’ chicken habibi and makhni labneh. And for the main there’s a choice of dishes including Kadhai Methi Paneer and Homestyle Chicken Masala With Dal. Twists on traditional indian sweets follow for dessert.

AED 399 per COUPLE. 7pm-12am, 15th-21st August. Indya by Vineet at Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa. 04 316 5550.

Return of DJ Aqeel: Disco 82 Tour at Club 6

DJ Aqueel a master of the remix flex, and legitimate superstar Indian DJ, is returning to Dubai after a 10 year absence. He’ll be bringing his Bollywood breaks to Club 6 at the Dubai World Trade Centre on the day we’re constitutionally obliged to celebrate all things Indian. He’ll be supported by locally based DJ Shadow who has produced hits for Pitbull and Sean Paul; and DJ Zubair – who brings a record bag full of fusion house beats.

Early bird single tickets still available from AED 150. From 9pm, 15th August. Club 6, DWTC. Tickets available from meraticket.com

All-inclusive Bollywood Parks tickets

Up until the end of September, Bollywood Parks has some pretty juicy little offers going on. There’s a special bus and picnic package that’s available on Fridays. But throughout the week, including on Thursday 15th August – there is a way you can upgrade tickets to all inclusive day passes. These entitle you to unlimited food and beverages across all restaurants at the park. It’s just an extra AED 50 on top of single tickets, but those buying a discounted bundle of six entrance tickets (for AED 450) get the upgrade for free. Making for a perfect, wallet friendly, family day out.

Single tickets from AED 175 (online). Until September. Bollywood Parks, Dubai Parks and Resorts, Jebel Ali www.dubaiparksandresorts.com

Khyber, Dukes The Palm

There’s a joint celebration of both Indian and Pakistan Independence Days at Khyber restaurant, on Palm Jumeirah. A pair of special menus will be available across the two days, one meat option and one vegetarian, offering three courses of decadent North Indian cuisine.
