This year the biggest library in the Arab world is set to open in Dubai. The Mohammed bin Rashid Library in Al Jaddaf will hold more than 1.5 million printed books over eight libraries, preserve Emirate culture and promote the Arabic language.

Hussein Nasser Lootah, Dubai Municipality director-general, is seen here in this video checking the progress of the AED 1 billion project, which will also print and distribute books and include a 500-seat theatre.
