Going on holiday fills up with joy but we’re totally over actually lugging our over-stuffed suitcases to the airport.
Thankfully Emirates has heeded our first world problem and introduced Home Check-in. Not only does this time-saving service allow you to complete security check and check-in from your home, hotel or office, but Emirates will also pop along to issue boarding passes, weigh your luggage and whisk it off to the airport.
That means all you have to do is turn up at the airport (that’s Terminal 3 of Dubai International) with your passport (and Emirates ID, so you breeze through those Smart Gates) and head straight to immigration.
For this super-handy service it costs AED 350, which includes seven pieces of luggage, plus AED 35 for any extra cases. Each bag will kept safe, sealed and stored in a separate hold of one of a fleet of new Emirates Home Check-in vans. Obviously, pack your luggage properly, with no prohibited items (remember irregular-shaped luggage can’t be check in either).
Home Check-in can only be used by passengers departing from Dubai International Airport on an Emirates flight with a pick-up in Dubai. For passengers arriving in Dubai, Emirates also offers a Home Delivery service that delivers luggage from the airport to you – no more hanging about at the carousel playing ‘is that my case?’
