The UAE’s flag day is confirmed by HH Sheikh Mohammed

Red, green, white and black. The colours of the UAE flag will flutter in November.

The UAE’s annual flag day takes place this year on Thursday, 1st November. On this day all public buildings will hoist the distinctive colours of the country’s flag.

In a series of tweets, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and Ruler of Dubai, called the flag “a symbol for our unity & pride.”

The UAE adopted the flag on 2nd December 1971, when rulers of the emirates of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain agreed to unite. Its colour represent bravery (red), prosperity (green), white (peace) and black (strength).

Flag Day isn’t generally a public holiday, but we’ll let you know about any celebrations and events taking place around Dubai.
