Did you know Dubai’ has ‘drive thru’ police stations?
The unmanned Smart Police Stations (SPS) were revealed at Gitex in 2017 and are now at Last Exit food truck parks around Dubai – including the E11 and its post-apocalyptic Mad X.
Now Dubai Police have announced that the 24/7 stations offer 33 different services – these include paying fines and making inquiries.
In September 2017, High Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, opened the world’s first smart police station in September 2017 at Dubai’s City Walk, where people can use any of 60 services, once they’ve registered their passport or Emirates ID.
Smart stations have already earned Dubai’s force a certificate from the Guinness Book of Records, for being the first police station to operate without human intervention.
Of course, if it’s an emergency, call 999, but if you have life admin to sort out while you’re travelling, make a stop at SPS.
