These 3 Metro stations will be the first to get an upgrade

The RTA has announced a plan to upgrade 40 Metro and Marine Stations by 2025, with the work starting on a trio of Red Line stops.

Dubai Internet City, Damac Properties and UAE Exchange will be receiving a dazzling make-over from the grand designs squad at Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

The improvements at Dubai Internet City Station include a new entry on the western side. There will also be improvements to the linking portal between Damac Metro Station and Dubai Marina Tram Station. And an additional eastern entry for UAE Exchange station.

But this is just the start of a comprehensive update of public transport hubs.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of the RTA explained “the plan envisages upgrading the facilities of 40 metro and marine transport stations up to 2025.”

Other important work will include “improving the connectivity between stations and urban & tourist attractions up to 500 metres in the surroundings to ensure the safe and smooth accessibility of pedestrians, cyclists and drivers.”

Specific attention will be paid to the areas around Al Rashidiya, GGICO, Al Qiyada, Noor Bank and Financial Centre Station.

This news follows extensive RTA commitments to improving road, taxi, marine transport and bus facilities in recent months.
