It’s not just the weekend that’s longer for the upcoming National Day break, the public transport timings are too!
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority announced the Metro is running later, excellent news for those celebrating National pride into the wee small hours.
For Sunday 1st December and Monday 2nd December, the Dubai Metro’s Red Line will operate from 05:00 am to 01:00 am. The Green Line will start service at 05:30 am and continue up to 01:00 am.
Catch the Dubai Tram on Friday between 6am-1am Sunday to Monday.
Bus and marine transport timings will also be altered. See the RTA’s website for a full schedule of changes.
Paid parking zones will be free to use from Sunday 1st December to Tuesday 3rd December, and fees will be reinstated on Wednesday 4th December. Except for some multi-storey ones, all bets are off on those.
Customers Happiness Centres
Customers Happiness Centres will be closed from Sunday 1st December to Tuesday 3rd December, and resume normal service on Wednesday 4th December. The smart centre at RTA’s Head Office, Umm Al Ramool, is obviously staffed by robotic minions so will remain open 24/7 over the holiday period.
The country’s 48th National Day is a five-day weekend for both private and public sector workers who don’t usually work Friday and Saturday. We’re being gifted the leave to commemorate the founding of the United Arab Emirates in 1971, when the seven emirates of the former Trucial States came together.
