Commute with Careem? Now your ride home from work or to the mall over Ramadan could help others.
Throughout the Holy Month, Careem will match every donation passengers make through its Rewards program.
In case you’re not a frequent clicker of the ride-hailing app, Careem rewards customers with points every time they travel. These can be redeemed for charity donations, but during Ramadan, they’re worth twice as much.
Visit the Rewards section of the app and as soon as you click donate, Careem will double your money. This means that 2,500 points will feed two children instead of one, or provide two refugee families with cooking gas. 6,000 points will fund two children’s education instead of one, and 15,000 points will help feed two children for a week instead of just one.
The Rewards scheme launched in February 2019 and since then, Careem has partnered with UNHCR, the World Food Programme and Dubai Cares to help those less fortunate than us.
After all, isn’t that what this time of year is all about?
Even if you’re not a Careem customer, you can still use their cars to give something back to the community. For the second year running, Careem has teamed up with the UAE Food Bank to deliver donations of food for free.
You can donate an extra portion you’ve cooked or ordered, or a parcel of groceries, to those in need, every day, between 11am and 5pm. Simply select ‘Food Bank’ from the car type menu and a rider will collect it from your door.
The service is available in Dubai, except Motor City, Silicon Oasis, Khawaneej, Mamzar, Mirdif, Arabian Ranches, Qusais and Nahda. Donations for the Food Bank need to fit a maximum space of 35 x 35 x 35 centimetres.
