How to have a lovely lunch delivered to your desk

Back at your desk after the holiday break? Ease yourself back into productivity and have your lunch delivered. Here’s who we rate…

Best for – weight watchers. Under 500, Business Bay & JLT

Being desk bound daily isn’t good for the waistline, but chefs at Under 500 promise every thing on the menu comes in at under 500 calories.

Organic chicken lettuce tacos (AED 22) were messy to eat but very tasty, and kept us full all afternoon, while a peanut butter surprise (AED 22) was no more than a bite, so order two if you’re peckish!

Delivery was prompt and came with plenty of cutlery and paper towels.

Saturday-Wednesday, 9am to 10.15pm; Thursday 9am- 11.15pm. Friday 11.30am-11.15pm. Cluster Y and Damac Executive Bay.

Best for – budget eats. Operation Falafel

Operation Falafel

With seven branches across Dubai, most open 24 hours, this popular chain dishes up the ubiquitous Arabic street food round the clock.

The deep-fried chickpea patties are among some of the best we’ve tasted and a falafel platter (AED 19), with hummous, salad, tahina and fresh, warm bread, will see you through lunch hour and beyond.

Sweet tooth? The banana and chocolate manousheh (AED 25) was the most decadent meal that we devoured at our desk.

Sadly our food took nearly an hour to arrive at peak time, but it’s the first time we’ve experienced such a delay.

Across Dubai.

Best for – sharing with colleagues. Zpizza, Al Barsha

Chose from 15 internationally-inspired pizzas, or DIY your own, for the perfect end-of-week feast.

With sizes up to 14″ and gluten-free bases, there really is something for everyone.

Our resident vegan loves her customised Tuscan Mushroom (from AED 30), with a homemade garlic sauce.

Although the Californian brand’s ethos is good-for-you quick eats, we are able to treat ourselves to a pot of Oreo rice pudding from The Rice Creamery (AED 12).

Al Barsha, near Dubai American Academy. 11am-12am. 04 550 9375

Dubai Week ate as guests of all the venues.
