Dubai Week

Where to watch National Day fireworks tonight

Light up the last long weekend of 2017 with sky scorching displays of fireworks in honour of the UAE’s 46th National Day. Some of them are free too, so they won’t burn a hole in your pocket.

Riverland Dubai

Riverland Dubai at night

A trio of the UAE’s singing superstars perform at Riverland Dubai on Saturday, 2nd December. Catch Hussain Al Jassmi, Balqees and Fayez Al Saeed in concert and fireworks from 8pm. The shows are all free and parking charges (usually AED 20) will be waived after 6.30pm.

During the day there’s plenty of entertainment to keep all the family occupied, from camel rides and street shows, to falconry displays and choirs. Some activities are charged.

Riverland, Dubai Parks. 8pm.

The Beach, JBR

Hats, scarves and badges will be handed out at the open air promenade, where fireworks will explode over the sea from 9.30pm. Lots of the restaurants and cafes have special deals on for National Day too.

Traffic is likely to be heavy, but the Dubai Tram has two stops on JBR that are just a short walk away from the festivities.

The Beach, JBR. Open until 1am Saturday.

Global Village

Global Village Jam

Fireworks in the colours of the UAE flag are primed to put on a show of light and sound tonight at Global Village. That’s not all – more than 300 artists come together in a Parade of the World, little ones can meet their favourite characters from Shabiat Al Cartoon and there’s free henna art and face-painting for all.

It’s not quite free, but all entertainment is included in the AED 15 admission charge. Get there for AED 10 with one of four Roads and Transport Authority bus services, from Metro stations at Rashidiya, Mall of the Emirates, Union and Al Ghubaiba.

4pm-2am. Global Village, exit 37 Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. Fireworks from 9pm.

Not quite fireworks, but the Burj Khalifa’s towering LED display usually lights up in the nation’s colours for National Day. Get a great view from new floating platform The Dubai Fountain Boardwalk, where visitors are just nine metres from the impressive jets of water and in the perfect place for snapping the world’s tallest building in all its red, black, white and green glory.

The Dubai Fountain Boardwalk 2

5pm-11pm every day (the fountain starts at 6pm). Tickets AED 20 per person (over fours and above only) from the Fountain Promenade, Burj Park and At the Top, Burj Khalifa ticket counters. They can also be pre-booked on
